The Power of Connecting Clients; VISA x MPT Contactless Payment Initiative

Both Visa and Malta Public Transport are clients of MPS. MTP’s relationship goes back decades while the Visa relationship began in 2015.

Project Scope

The project came to fruition following an internal discussion on innovative ways we can connect clients. The first two were Visa and MPT since at that point the transport system in Malta, only accepted cash or bus passes.

Approach

Since this campaign was targeting all those that travel around Malta, the best tway to attract their gaze was doing a fully-fledged outdoor campaign. Ranging from bus wraps, digital and print bus shelters, bus timetable redesign, billboards, street panels and digital screens across Malta.

In parallel to that, a strong PR strategy was developed, maximising both organic and paid media. In it there were 14 media placements, agreements with leading content creators. Through the paid media and influencers there was over 330,000 engagement opportunities.

Outcome

A pioneering initiative that allowed two industry leaders to connect and provide a service to the Maltese population that was not available before. This marked a step forward in making cashless payments in travel the new norm.
